du Jockey Club , the meeting of flat racing's finest

On
Sunday 1 June, lovers of sporting thrills and special moments
have an unmissable date with the ultimate spectator sport,
in the majestic setting of Chantilly Racecourse.
Within the unique
surroundings of Chantilly racecourse, the
Prix du Jockey Club stands out as one of the leading
events of the flat racing season.
A key event in preparation for the Qatar Prix de l’Arc
de Triomphe, this Group I race
culminates in the crowning of the cream of the annual 3-year-old
crop who, in the autumn will be called upon to test themselves
at the very highest international level.
This “French Derby” permits
thoroughbred “milers” to test themselves over
10 ½ furlongs, against specialists in the Classic mile
and a half distance.

The
Group I races are the most coveted by racing’s elite
and are consequently contested by starters from the most
prestigious international stables, like those of
Prince Khalid Abdullah, Sheikh Al Maktoum and the Niarchos
Family, who compete with the top French stables such as
those of the Aga Khan, the Wertheimer Brothers and the Wildenstein
Family. In the day’s big event, the finest 3-year-old
colts team up with the very best international
jockeys.

The
public in the thick of things
At the heart of the kingdom of the horse, the Prix du Jockey
Club offers a unique atmosphere and the best in sporting entertainment,
within the sumptuously renovated setting of Chantilly Racecourse…
Its every aspect has been designed to place the public firmly
at the heart of the action and to ensure they spend a memorable
day as the eight races unfold… They can view the horses’
preparation and the weighing of the jockeys, take a break
in the relaxation and picnic area, sample any of a plethora
of catering options, take in various high-quality entertainment,
or undergo an introduction to betting to allow them to pick
a horse and follow its colours, heart a-fluttering, all the
way to the finish line…

In
between each race, the entertainment continues on the track!
The Republican Guard, complete with their flamboyant costumes,
majestic chargers and famous fanfare will be on the track
between races, as will the “Flag Parade”, featuring
the silks of the owners taking part in the Prix du Jockey
Club.
Awash with vibrant colours, these banners will be carried
by sixty children, who will parade on the track dressed
as jockeys.

The
Prix du Jockey Club is broadcast live:
- On Canal+, from 17.00 to
18.00.
- On Equidia, during the course
of a special programme from 13.30 to 18.45.
Entry:
8 euros - Free for under-18s
(4 euros for the over-60s, students and FFE amateur riders
upon presentation of the appropriate card)
The race meeting commences at 13:45, with eight races on
the card (gates open at 11:30)
