Lope de Vega romps home in the 2010 Prix du Jockey Club.

Lope de Vega, son of Shamardal, ran away with the 162nd Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly. The Andre Fabre trained colt was superbly ridden by 21 year-old Maxime Guyon, who made light of a bad draw (20) to steer his mount to a famous victory. Lope de Vega showed a stunning turn of speed down the straight to outpace second favourite Planteur by three lengths, with Pain Perdu finishing a highly commendable third. The favourite, Cape Blanco, trained by Aidan O’Brien, came in a disappointing tenth.

The 2010 Prix du Jockey Club is won by a blisteringly fast colt with a very bright future.

See you all next year for the 2011 Prix du Jockey Club
